Dominance, control, and power over others are all signatures of systems born from fear.

The Signature of Fear-Based Systems

  • Military organisations are good examples of fear-based systems.

  • Top-down management is also an ideology born of that same fear.

  • Traditional human resources is designed as well to be a structure to 'maintain order' within this power over context of fear.

  • Continuing to work in jobs where you're clearly uninvested, unqualified, or unhappy stems from – yes – that same fear construct.

  • Imposter syndrome? Same fear construct.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

Fear is the cultural basis of patriarchy. It does not matter whether you are benefiting from or a victim of its core design principles.

The Power-Over Ideology

Patriarchy, as an ideology of power-over, underpins everything. It is woven into all our systems, our stories, and our structures. It will remain our undoing until enough awakened people knit an alternative design that smokes out and reconciles all the insidious places that ignorance, harm, inequality, unkindness, and hatred hide.

To be very clear, patriarchy is not a word that describes men. Men are among the most harmed, isolated, and distorted by a system conditioning and programming, both consciously and unconsciously, for domination, destruction, synthetics, and the 'kill.' When domination, e.g. the kill, becomes the primary objective in a power-over system design, it devolves into money, status, pedigree, clicks, word boundarylessness, and physical and sexual control – trampling over decency, humanity, societal improvement, compassion, and safety as foundational values. As a matter of fact, the latter can even seem secondary and even 'silly' in this extractive mental model. Women, the unfinanced, and disposable assets (choose an era, choose a people) bear the ancestral brunt of dominion, alongside a modern era of denial, dystopian narratives, and unconscious patterns.

Patriarchy always needs an enemy. Silences. Starves. Rarely does it truly see – as in truly, deeply see, fully support, or serve to sustain flourishing. If it did, the ways of it as a system would naturally cease to exist.

The Reckoning: Power-Over or Power-from-Within

In real time, we are living a choice between two operating system designs: power-over or power-from-within. Businesses, structures, algorithms, and artificial intelligence – rooted as they are in patriarchal and capitalist system designs – have become forums for critical structural choices and cultural places where advanced forms of leadership can emerge. The potential will be systems where individuals respect themselves enough to live and lead from their innate gifts and out of their truth – not from an edict, manifesto, or doctrine. Forums where conversation is normalised, debate is welcomed, and decisions, easy and hard, are about discernment and intuitive knowing, shared humanity, and reasoned logic flows.

Leading with Heart

In this next epoch, leadership shifts from the dominance (shackling, fear-based) of the mind to the wisdom (elevation, truth) of the heart. It doesn't mean saccharin, phony, and schmaltzy self-effacing bs. It means learning discernment as an art and science. It means attuning to and listening, with deep respect, to the profound radio signals of the heart's motherboard, rather than churning and pridefully parading the rationality – and all too often the stupidity – of ego. It means calibrating our human technology (mind, heart, soul, and spirit) to operate within its expansive intelligence, without the fear programs.

The Organic Paradigm: Cracking Open

The non-artificial paradigm is already cracking open – ready or not. Stuffing this evolutionary genie back into the bottle is not an option.

Is it messy? Absolutely.
Is it lengthy? Yes.
Chaotic? Just look around.

You more than likely already know in your own heart that you cannot unsee what is being revealed. Denying your own values and preferences to 'survive' in arcane systems fraught with fear-based histrionics, harmful players, unfair rules, or abhorrently unhealthy communication is probably intolerable. You may even be questioning what you'll do any longer, just for earning the money.

Patriarchy is a synthetic overlay to what is natural in our universe – an effective political program and behavioral algorithm that took hold of conscious understanding through millennia of dark playing, bad actors, and global god-fearing missions. Suffering is not natural. Operating against your better instincts is toxic. They, too, are a part of the fear programming.

Joy, love, beauty, will, courage, and action are natural signatures already alive and well within everyone. You come with them, a part of the human, non-artificial package. Divisiveness, on the other hand, is a control feature of patriarchy, of the synthetic system. It's a contrived boogie monster. And monsters are inventions to scare you, to put you into fear. Fear, the cultural norm, you hardly recognise as an overlay any longer.

Separateness, e.g., divisiveness, keeps you convinced that your fears and your lower instinct for more and more control are 'rational.' They are not. It's simply also part of the programming.

Technology: Human & Artificial

We are in the midst of a reckoning. Philosophy and poetry versus advanced computer technologies do not need to be mutually exclusive. But, that is a conscious design decision and governing choice.

The accelerating AI race for money and power over reflects and magnifies this reckoning. It mirrors the same power-over design that patriarchy thrives on: domination, extraction, disposability, and control. Left unchecked, it presents further risk, deepening harm, and perpetuating ignorance (aka egoic stupidity).

Thank goodness more people are waking up to confront the dialectic and unsustainable current system design as improbable and not as inevitable. Building upon the (conscious or unconscious) power over systems, all evidently rooted in harm and control, is not the passage forward.

The opportunity is that technology is not inherently destructive, and humans can wake up to the artificial programming. When wielded with discernment, creativity, and ethics, technology and humans can advance beyond the synthetic power-over design and into the power-from-within organic alternative.

The hazards and opportunities ahead need discernment more so than ever. They need heads and hearts; care and logic; receptivity and willfulness.

The hazards are extraordinarily real – in both the short and long-term. Those invested in domination will continue to use technology to tighten their grip. The opportunities are equally real. Enough people have become alerted to the underbelly of an aged system design that favors fear, domination, and control – and all of its sickness. When enough people refuse to participate, remain quiet, and be complicit in a broken, psycho, and dark system, the system itself begins to crack, destablise, and dissolve.

Businesses are leading this phenomenon. People, e.g., employees, are spearheading this phenomenon. They are activators of the paradigm-shifting moment we're in.

I know. Metamorphosing systems this fundamentally is not an easy call to action. It requires courage, moral clarity, and the willingness to lead and build something entirely new as a baseline. It also demands we speak institutionally with an honesty we have not braved before.

But you already know this. You feel it. The choice is here. Heck, you can see the 'threatened' acting out all over the place.

The question to sit with is which type of system design do you choose to give your energy to? Synthetic and artificial, perpetuated by fear and control, or living and organic, nurtured and networked by joy, beauty, strength, and discernment?

What will you contribute to creating in the next realms of human, technological, and cultural systems? Ones that center on shared humanity, self-respect, and power-from-within? Or, will you choose to remain in fear, welcoming the old and sick patterns to dictate your organisation's future – and likely its demise?

You’ve got this. x
