Love Unconditionally
Loving to death is for the fantastical stories, films, and poetry. Managing and leading with a controlling love is toxic anytime and anywhere, and most especially in environments that already feel devoid of heart and meaning. Your “undying” love for your team and the organisation is sure to interfere with their and its growth.
Do we need more systems with love as a baseline so people can feel whole and healthy to be who they are, say what they need, and act without fear? Categorically yes. However, that baseline is not a love that is controlling, overbearing, manipulative, judgmental, martyring, and self-sacrificing. It is not about performative transparency with ulterior energetics.
That love is truthful, compassionate, kind, contained, growth-oriented, forgiving, and receptive.
That love is fierce and mighty.
That love is connected.
Humane.
And that love is the hardest and most worthy one.
Unconditional asks for your everything to show up and be present. Unconditional does not ask you to bleed yourself dry. When we talk about the need for humanity in organisations, we are talking about seeing people. Begin with cultivating that love within you to unconditionally and steadily spread it out in the field.
Stop the gripping, interfering, and imposing. Start the loosening.
